mYe Sunrise Empowerment Program

About Sunrise Senior Living:

Beginning with a single community in 1981, there are now more than 315 Sunrise Senior Living communities throughout the U.S., in Canada and the United Kingdom. Each of their communities maintains the mission laid out by Sunrise founders Paul and Terry Klaassen more than 35 years ago: to champion quality of life for all seniors.

There are 12 Sunrise Senior Living Communities in Michigan. Sunrise of Bloomfield Hills on Telegraph Road currently have over 80 residents and offer different levels of care for assisted living residents with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of memory loss.

mYe Sunrise Empowerment Program:

mYe is proud to launch the “Empowerment Program” in partnership with Sunrise of Bloomfield Hills. Together, we provide a great environment and opportunities to our students to engage and practice their community responsibilities.

Exposing life’s journey and wisdom through interactions with Sunrise’s senior residents, we empower our children with the following core values: loving, caring, respect, compassion, confidence, and heritage.

Program Overview:

mYe’s Community Service Team organizes a monthly visit to Sunrise of Bloomfield. Each visit includes two main parts:

Part 1: Musical concert and any type of performing art.

Perform in front of the senior residents with any types of instruments, singing, dancing, magic tricks, poem reciting, or school project presentation. mYe-Sunrise Empowerment Program provides you a great opportunity to share your talent and passion. During this part of the program, students will take turns to perform in Sunrise’s beautiful home.

Part 2: Interaction with senior residents with an activity of choice.

Bring a activity of your choice to interact with Sunrise senior residents, such as: reading your favorite book, playing chess or a board game, teaching them a cool technology on iPad, sharing a school project, making crafts with them or listen to them to share their previous life stories. Your participation can bring true joy to their life!
