2021 Fall - Writing for Elementary Level 2

In this course students will continue to develop their writing skills by studying more complex literary texts.  In addition, students will also gain more in-depth experience in writing personal narratives, essays, and stories from various genres.  Furthermore, students will enhance their descriptive writing skills.  Lastly, students will refine their grammatical skills, enhance their vocabulary, and learn how to incorporate outside resources into their writing.  A main focus of the course will be on storytelling.  The final project will include the writing of a personal essay (story) where students will include all the tools they gained and enhanced throughout the semester.

 

At the end of the semester students will be able to:

 

  1. Identify descriptive language in various texts and in their own writing
  2. Analyze the concepts they learn in class and apply these concepts to their own literary texts from various genres.
  3. Create literary texts in various genres.

Mr. Patrick McKinnon

Mr. McKinnon has been an educator in the K-12 and Higher Education environment for the last 10 years both domestically in the US and Internationally. Mr McKinnon holds a BA in Communications for Oakland University and a Master of Science degree in Teaching English Language Learners from Syracuse University. Currently, Patrick is an Instructional Designer at Syracuse University where he designs and develops online courses at the University and K-12 levels.
