2021 Summer – Prep for Forensics Speech Competition for High Schoolers

Want to strengthen your public speaking skills?

Consider forensics!

Forensics, or competitive speech and acting, is an academic speech competition event.  In Michigan, it consists of twelve distinct events split broadly into either interpretation of literature or public address.

In interpretation events, students perform the work of other authors offering:

  • interpretation of poetry
  • novels
  • short stories
  • and/or plays.

In the public address events, students write their own material in categories that include:

  • informative and persuasive speaking
  • impromptu delivery
  • and broadcasting.

Forensics offers students an opportunity to develop research, critical thinking, organization, persuasionand oral communication skills.  It also helps build confidence, develops academic essentials, and find fun in public speaking.

Whether students have never competed before and wish to learn or want to get a head start on a new season, come, and check out the “Prep for Forensics Speech Competition class”!

Why is forensics important?

Forensics teaches confidence, analysis, research, public speaking, diction, memorization, acting, and quick thinking. Students with a forensics background are highly prized by colleges. And, it’s fun.
