2022 Summer - Leadership & Speaking for High School
Interested in feeling more confident when giving presentations in school?
Consider strengthening your public speaking skills.
In this high energy, eight session course students will be introduced to different aspects of public speaking. Students will work on three core competencies of public speaking - organization, content and delivery.
Students will get the chance to learn about, write and deliver speeches meant to inform and speeches meant to persuade.
Additionally, students will learn up-to-date practices for strong organizational skills, critical thinking analysis, content selection, techniques to lessen speaker anxiety, enhanced execution of delivery and leadership tactics.

Prof. Charlie Rinehart
Prof. Rinehart has been a Special Lecturer at Oakland University since 2007 where he teaches Communication, Wellness & Health Promotion and presentation-based classes. He ran the Oakland University Speech Team for seven years from 2012 until 2019. Prof. Rinehart is the current President on the board of Michigan Speech Coaches Inc. and has been coaching speech and acting for over twenty years. He has been an active service member within the Michigan high school forensics (competitive acting and speech) and debate community since the year 2000, coaching for a dozen years and serving the community on the governing council. In 2015, Prof. Rinehart served as the TEDx Speech Coach for Oakland University and continues to take on this role when it serves the university. In addition to his time at Oakland University, Charlie does freelance work as a corporate speech presentation coach assisting with presentations, individual communication growth and research trends.COURSE FEATURES
