2023 Summer - Intro to Music Production with Garageband

This course is designed for students interested in making music. They will be introduced to a free music-making app for iPhone and iPad called GarageBand.GarageBand is easy to get started with, but features enough tools and capabilities to accommodate both professional and aspiring musicians alike

No previous music experience is necessary.

Day1: Intro to Garageband

  • Showing instruments and settings
  • Showing how to add measures and adjust tempo

  Day2: Creating our first song

  • Going through loops, cutting, forming, and song format (ABAC)
  • Export and share to friends and family

  Day3: Expanding our songs with effects (reverb, compression, ect.)

  • Going through different types of effects 
  • How to incorporate them into our songs
  • How to use effects for loops

  Day4: Making a song with instruments

  • Going over all the different instruments
  • Looking at basses, melodies, and drums

Harold Wu

Harold Wu will be attending University of Michigan pursuing the Sound Engineering major. He's been playing piano for 14 years and has been studying piano with Prof. Logan Skelton, Director of Doctoral Studies in Piano Performance at the University of Michigan, since 9 year old. 

His digital composition “Exploration“ won 1st place in the 2019 International Youth Art and Technology Competition. 

In high school, he completed a 6-credit course “Mixing and Mastering for the Electronic Musician” & “Producing Music with Logic” at Berklee College of Music and got accepted into the Music Technology Pre-college program at the Carnegie Mellon University.
